Welcome to my first post in my first blog! Last Friday, April 17, was the anniversary of my move to Alaska. Yesterday was the last day of legislative session AND the day my niece, Tori, landed in Johannesburg on her way to start her two years with the Peace Corps in Botswana. My bulbs are several inches up in the garden. There are a couple hundred pine siskins and common red poles in my back yard enjoying food from me, unaware that I will have to stop feeding them any day now, since it's spring and the bears will be out and about soon. Have not seen a hummingbird yet, although that feeder has been up for a couple weeks now. Indoors, the two fuchsias I successfully overwintered are sprouting leaves, which the aphids already found. Where DO those buggers come from?! I recently completed my Master Gardner course, and I STILL cannot answer that question!
